Case Studies

Church Lane

Our client was looking for a sedum roof to fulfil planning conditions and were looking for immediate visual and ecological impact.

The roof is on a new out-building in a small village, so it was very important to make sure we were able to deliver the materials in smaller vehicle and particular sizes for getting them to the roof without compromising safety.

We ended up using in small telehandler to move materials from the roadside to roof level before manually distributing them.

As you can see from the photos, the sedum is in great condition and not surprisingly the client was over the moon

Wornington Road

Our client had very specific needs for this project.

The planning conditions instructed a plugged sedum roof. We helped plan extra fire breaks due to the sheer size of the roof as per the GRO installation code.

We had several restraints when installing the project, all materials were to be taken to roof level using a hoist and manually distributed. The site is next to one of the busiest railway junctions in west London so we had a TfL safety adviser watching on throughout the installation.

All materials were delivered in small bags and labour was increased to distribute materials, whilst a full-time supervisor was in charge of collecting all rubbish and debris throughout the day to eliminate the risk of anything being blown from the roof.

The client was extremely happy with the finished roof and we received an email from TfL praising the high level of health and safety and professionalism of the site team.

Hathaway House

Our client had a very vague specification from the architect

We asked for the ecology report and used our expertise to change the spec for the client to provide a seeded biodiverse roof to meet all of the planning criteria.

Being a large site, we were able to use the onsite crane to load out the materials.

The roof was completed with several biodiverse features to encourage insects and birds to use the roof for habitats that would otherwise have been lost due to the development.

The client was very happy with our help planning and are even happier with the finished installation
